Today we have over 3,500 students who are studying in Trinidad and Tobago on a range of qualifications, including economics, law (LLB and LLM), computing, geography, management and information systems.
Our qualifications are internationally recognized and portable. Students study and take their exams locally. In Trinidad and Tobago the exams are organised by the Ministry of Education. However, if your work or family causes you to move you can take your studies with you as we have exam centres all over the world. No matter where you take your exams, all of your papers are marked by academics in London, so you can be sure of the high quality of the University of London degree.
Many of our Trinbagonian students are supported by full-time and part-time (evening and weekend) classes at a range of independent institutions in Trinidad and receive GATE funding [external link] towards the cost of their studies.
The University of London External System is delighted that the Accreditation Council of Trinidad & Tobago has announced that it is recognising the University of London as an awarding institution for a period of seven years as at 08 September 2009.

The former President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Arthur NR Robinson, an LLB alumnus, shared his personal experience of studying with the External System and the challenges he encountered, at a reception hosted by the University of London at the Hilton Hotel, Port of Spain, in June.
Robinson recalled that when he studied law as a young man in Tobago there were no libraries or tutors but he was inspired to overcome the difficulties when he read that the US President Abraham Lincoln, whom he considered to be one of his heroes, had studied for his law degree in a log cabin, and had then gone on to become the President of the United States. He admitted that when he started his studies he had no idea that he would later become the President of Trinidad and Tobago.
While in the Caribbean, the University of London team also met over 800 potential students at recruitment events held in the Long Circular Mall, St James, Port of Spain and the Crowne Plaza hotel, Port of Spain.
To view the courses we offer you can either browse our full list of undergraduate programmes (for holders of A' levels or of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination) or masters programmes or use our 'Find a course' facility.
